About Us

Monterey Peninsula Meetings was started in 1996 with the goal of finding the best available group accommodations at the best value. Based locally in Monterey, California, we have seen all of the hotels that we represent and pride ourselves on providing an unbiased opinion. We are a free service and have worked closely with the convention and visitors bureau and chambers of commerce (2003 Business Excellence Award from Pacific Grove Chamber). Founded by Brian Borgia, a former sales manager and director of sales, we have assisted over 350 groups ranging in size from just 5 rooms per night up to 300 rooms per night. How are you a free service?

We have worked with the local hotels for the past 12 years and generated an excellent relationship. We help you find the right group accommodations and the hotels pay us a small referral fee. Our referral fee does not affect your rates (if we see that a hotel is doing this, we take them off of our service). Our goal is to find you a place you will be happy with. If not, we will be upfront with you and see if you can either move your dates or advise you of other nearby destinations.


Do you work with all of the hotels??

We work with over 160 different local hotels, motels, inns, bed & breakfasts and resorts (including every hotel that has at least one meeting room). We have seen each and every hotel and can offer you an unbiased opinions and ratings.


Can you get me better rates than I could get researching on my own?

We have set up a system so that hotels that are offering special group rates over slow dates contact us on a regular basis. This means that we can often find a 4 star quality hotel at a 3 star price. Also, by sending out a Request for Proposal to multiple hotels, we can find you the best values since we can negotiate with multiple hotels at one time.


How involved do you stay in the whole process of finding a location?

We stay as involved as you would like. We can find you the right hotel and then let you run with it or we can set up site inspections, review contracts and set up your meetings with the individual hotel properties and discuss off-site dining options. You call the shots.


Do you work with wedding parties?

For those planning a wedding, we can assist you with blocks of rooms for your wedding or provide you with information on how each individual can make their own travel arrangements.
